Big Dance

5 - 13 July 2008

From Strictly Come Dancing to Dirty Dancing; from Footloose to Flashdance, dance has never been more popular. Just last month, streetdancer George Sampson won Britain’s Got Talent, with another dance act, Signature as runners-up. Now it’s the chance of everyone in the South West to show off their favourite dance moves. As part of Big Dance week, on Sunday 6 July there will be professional dancers on the streets of Bournemouth,  Chippenham, Christchurch, Devizes and Swindon asking people “What’s Your Dance?” and encouraging them to dance for up to 5 minutes.  5-6-7-8 is both the date of the event (5 minutes on 6/7/08) and also the traditional count-in to dance routines. There will be prizes of Big Dance T-Shirts and Big Dance Bags for the first 20 people who take part in Bournemouth, Chippenham, Christchurch & Devizes. 5-6-7-8 is the perfect way to get people dancing, whether they are in one of the featured towns, or just out and about locally or even at home. People are also encouraged to film their dances and put them on YouTube.

Jax Dance Show - Take it to The Streets

Full Press Release click here

Jax would like to say a MASSIVE THANKS to all you funky dancers who performed so excellently and worked so hard for our recent show "Take It to the Streets" - it was a wicked success.  Thank you also to all those who volunteered in roles other than dancing, and to the many parents who contributed by driving to rehearsals and classes, and of course watching the show.

As you will have seen from the stage Take It to the Streets was a complete sell-out.  There were over 200 people in the audience!  With the resounding success of the Wiltshire 2008 show plans are already a foot for an even bigger spectacle to be held in 2009.  If you have any ideas or would like to be involved behind the scenes, please let me know.

Filming Jax Dance Show

We hired a professional film company who filmed the production so you will get a top quality DVD.  The film company is hard at work editing the footage, and the DVD's will be with us before the end of May.  If you would like a DVD of the Show please order via Jax Dance Class or click on link below.
